Our society

Society for Academic Research of Ainu Culture. We are a non-governmental, non-profit organization managed by Japanese citizens with their own core business. Our interest is the endangered culture of the Ainu, indigenous people in Japan. Ainu persons and technical collaborators participate in each project with approval of the purpose.

Our ongoing project is the revival of a native speaker of Ainu with AI (Artificial Intelligence) technologies.

if you are interested in our activities, please feel free to contact us.

Our basic idea is summarized in the following text.
“By directing our efforts to saving the components of our global village — our peoples, languages, and cultures — we aim to preserve ourselves as a species with all its rich variation. The solution to the environmental crisis involves preserving local ecosystems through the empowerment of indigenous peoples who live there. Preserving and creating small-scale community habitats in turn support languages and cultures.”[1]
